Arrival of the Oktoberfest hosts

Oktoberfest service
The Wiesn service is a firm tradition in Munich. It was held for the first time in 1956 by the head of the Catholic circus and showman ministry, Father Heinz Peter Schönig. The service itself is ecumenical and is led by Catholic and Protestant pastors.

Cannon shooting at the Bavaria
The Oktoberfest ends with loud gunfire on the last day of the Wiesn, Sunday, October 6th, at 12 noon. 60 gunners then fire their salute in front of the Bavaria. The party continues a little longer in the tents – the celebrations continue until late in the evening.

Tent reservations
Tourists in particular try to get a reservation quickly. But consumer advocates warn: Many offers on the Internet are no guarantee of actually getting into the tent. “Many Oktoberfest hosts stipulate in their general terms and conditions that reservations that were not bought directly from them are invalid,” points out the Munich Consumer Advice Center. The result: visitors are turned away at the door.
About the official portal oktoberfest-booking.com Already purchased reservations for the Oktoberfest can be resold as usual.
Midday Oktoberfest
Daily specials at a reasonable price: During the Oktoberfest lunchtime, most of the tents at the festival offer a different discounted lunchtime dish every day during the week. BUT: Some tents, such as the Wiesn-Guglhupf, only offer this service Monday to Thursday, but not on Friday, which is the busiest and most profitable day, and not at the weekend either.
