It will be the last chance to experience the Octagon in Prague’s Štvanice, the packed program promises a whole range of interesting fights. However, the main attraction of the upcoming MMA event, called Oktagon 45, will still be the return of Karlos Vémola, who received a beating from rival Patrik Kincl in May.
After information about Vémol’s opponent, which will be Argentine wrestler Lucas Alsina, became public, Patrik Kincl rushed to comment.
“The toughest opponent of his career has graduated. That’s why it bothers me. Why wasn’t it said outright that Karel will go with another sack, because he doesn’t want some normal opponent (at least from the second hundred of the ranking),” he wrote on Instagram for the post, which he accompanied with three smileys.
“I don’t even really know what my opponent’s name is, I only know him by the nickname Kobra,” Vémola said in an interview for the program Na zadraj. “Obviously people have condemned him as a weak opponent, but I’m not underestimating him, unlike the public. It’s part of my preparation for the title fight with Langre, so I can’t underestimate him.”
But Vémola can’t afford to take any chances, certainly not before the defense of the light heavyweight title and the subsequent rematch with Attila Végh. “It’s a huge pressure again. I can’t lose,” says the Terminator.
The official highlights of Friday and Saturday evenings will be the fights for the championship belt. On Friday, Jonas Magard will defend against Brazilian Felipe Lima, who holds a respectable record of 11 consecutive wins over 8 years. The two almost got into a fight backstage at the Octagon Time press conference and have been exchanging blows on social media ever since.
In the main preliminary match of the evening, the “Due for Kincla” awaits. The winner of the duel between the popular Pirát Krištofič and the Pole Bryczek will next fight for the middleweight championship belt.
On Saturday, the main duel will be between the belt holder of the featherweight division Mate Sanikidze and Losene Keita, who wants to transform the provisional title into a full-fledged title and become only the second legitimate doublechamp.
