22-year-old Oklahoma teacher’s assistant arrested for having sex with student after it was revealed that she started a relationship with the teenager just two weeks after starting the job, according to reports.
Ashley Wafflesa temporary paraprofessional at Granite Public Schools, began his employment Oct. 10 and began messaging a 16-year-old on Snapchat Oct. 25, reported KSW extension.
The outlet said school officials have alerted the police rumors of relationships between the student and Waffle that were spreading in the town of less than 2,000 inhabitants.
According to court records, Waffle had sex with the teenager twice in her apartment sometime before Nov. 9, KSWO reported.
Waffle was fired Nov. 10 and now faces two charges of second-degree rape that could land her in prison for up to 15 years.
She is currently being held in the Greer County Jail, according to the outlet.
District Superintendent Missy Berry told parents in a letter this week they were cooperating with law enforcement as their investigation continues.
Waffle’s case comes just days after an Arizona teacher and her husband lost their jobs after authorities in the educational space discovered pornographic content of both on an OnlyFans account.
It was Samantha Peer herself, 28, who confirmed in a Facebook video that she had resigned from Thunderbolt Middle School after being suspended.
According to Peer, she decided to resign under pressure from the school district after her account went public.
