Gent –

Supermarket chain Okay opens a third Okay Direct in Ghent on Wednesday. The store is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week. An Okay Compact was recently opened near the new neighborhood supermarket in Kortrijksepoortstraat.

Fans of Okay will find something to their liking in the Kortrijksepoortstraat. An Okay Compact branch only opened there last month and the next store is already there. This time it is an Okay Direct, a store where customers can do their shopping at any time of the day. There is hardly any staff involved.

The range is less extensive than in Okay Compact, but always accessible. The focus is on basic products and quick meals. Approximately 250 products are in the (refrigerator) cabinets, both A-brands and private labels. The store is fifty square meters in size.

“We especially want to appeal to customers who benefit from a store with longer opening hours. I am thinking of students and people with irregular working hours,” says Gert Somers, manager of Okay Direct.

Okay’s third day-and-night supermarket in Ghent will open two years after the first in Belfortstraat and five months after the opening of the second branch in Keizer Leopoldstraat. With the new store, Colruyt Group wants to have an even stronger presence in cities.

Okay Direct, Kortrijksepoortstraat 82, Ghent.
