An okapi was born in Safari Park Beekse Bergen. It’s a male and his name is Dex.
“We are very pleased that with the arrival of Dex we can contribute to the conservation of this endangered species,” said a spokesman for the safari park. Broadcasting Brabant.
A total of three okapis have now been born in the safari park. A young has been moved to a zoo in Antwerp due to an international breeding program.
Okapis belong to the same family as the giraffe. The animal is only found in the rainforests of Congo in Africa. That is why it is also called a forest giraffe.
