An agreement was signed today between the Puglia Region and general practitioners for the continuation of the strategic anti covid-19 vaccination plan.
“The goal achieved today is an important goal – explains the councilor for health Pier Luigi Lopalco – which can be fully respected thanks to the collaboration of general practitioners and the effort of the ASL if there are adequate and constant supplies of vaccines by the Central government. We have collected many tips to improve our strategy. Let’s start immediately and we will have all the strength and capillarity on the territory of general practitioners who will allow us to speed up vaccination.
Obviously, when the vaccines arrive. For the moment, until the end of the month, with the available doses and thanks to general practitioners, we will be able to complete the vaccination of those over 80, both among those who have booked for vaccination clinics and for those who have requested home vaccination. Finally they can be contacted, a date will be set and they will be vaccinated as soon as possible. Thanks to all the general practitioners who will make it possible to secure the population ”.
According to the director of the Health Policies Department, Vito Montanaro, “We have collected the requests from each member of the table, we have carried out a long work that has led us to achieve a result that still does not appear to have been achieved in other regions. We approve an organizational procedure for vaccines in the clinic and at home with maximum table sharing. An action achieved also thanks to the offices of the department which led to a great result. We are planning the action of distributing vaccines directly in the places of administration, that is, in the general practitioner’s office. We are agreeing with Federfarma the services for distribution logistics on the territory “
From March 15, the home vaccination campaign for over 80s who cannot go to a vaccination point starts: the vaccine will be Moderna or Pfizer. For citizens in Integrated Home Care or Scheduled Home Care: the attending physician agrees the vaccination (first and second dose) with the patient.
Other citizens over 80 who have booked an appointment at home for the first dose through the Cup services will be contacted to fix the final appointment; the day for the second dose will be agreed upon when the first dose is performed. Vaccinations will be carried out by Primary Care Doctors by Continuity Care Doctors and Prevention Departments.
For people between the ages of 75 and 79 and between 70 and 74 years, for those at increased risk if they contract the SARS-CoV_2 virus between the ages of 66 and 69, and for people between 66 and 69 years, the vaccine that will be offered at dedicated Asl vaccination centers will be Pfizer. The call mode will be organized as follows: citizens will be able to book the first dose through Cup services; the appointment for the second dose will be fixed during the first administration.
People with increased risk between 18 and 65 and people between 55 and 65 will be offered the AstraZeneca vaccine by general practitioners.
The possibility of extending the age of use of the AstraZeneca vaccine is being studied by the Ministry of Health; in this case the vaccination plan could undergo changes.
The GP will arrange the vaccination appointment (first and second dose) with the patient.
The vaccination campaign for teaching and non-teaching staff of schools and universities will be completed by 14 March.
To date – communicates the department – a total of 304,978 doses of vaccine have been administered, of these 82,133 are second doses. 63,725 are the administrations carried out on citizens over 80, 37592 vaccines already given to school staff.
