Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) will summon businessman Jusuf Hamka to clarify his statement regarding unjust Islamic banks in the media. This summons is also in order to carry out the task of protecting customers which is the responsibility of the OJK.
Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso, said that Jusuf Hamka’s summons would be carried out immediately, so that the problem would not drag on and create a bad image for domestic banks, especially Islamic banking.
“We will call the person concerned to clarify whether his statement is true,” said Wimboh to CNBC Indonesia, Saturday (24/7/2021).
On that occasion, Wimboh stated that customers who have problems with banking, like Jusuf Hamka’s, should be able to file a complaint with the OJK through the consumer protection department. So that the problem can be resolved quickly.
“So the steps are like that, if you feel you have been wronged or there is a dispute with the banking sector, you can resolve it through the OJK. We will help mediate, by writing a letter to the OJK or to the call center 157. Or even sending a letter to me directly. open if there are problems,” said Wimboh.
According to him, if a customer opens a problem to the media like Jusuf Hamka did, then the bank or financial institution concerned will be closed and it will be difficult to conduct mediation properly.
