Financial Services Authority (OJK) revealed the development of the handling of 11 companies insurance problematic
Ogi Prastomiyono, OJK Chief Executive for Supervision of the Non-Bank Financial Industry, stated that of the 11 troubled insurance companies under special supervision, two of them had their licenses revoked in 2023.
Both of them are PT Asuransi Jiwa Adisarana Wanaartha (Wanaartha Life/WAL) and PT Asuransi Jiwa Kresna (Kresna Life).
Ogi added that the two companies whose business licenses had been revoked were now in the process of being liquidated.
“We can report the 11, two companies have had their business licenses revoked and are now in the liquidation process on behalf of WAL and Kresna insurance,” said Ogi in a press conference on the results of a virtual OJK Board of Commissioners meeting, Thursday (3/8).
Meanwhile, Ogi said that four other insurance companies had submitted their Financial Restructuring Plans (RPK). OJK has stated that it has no objections to the proposed RPK.
Meanwhile, five other insurance companies have yet to submit RPK and are still under OJK monitoring. OJK has not taken firm action against other companies because there is a process that must be followed, such as a warning beforehand.
However, Ogi stated that he could not reveal the names of insurance companies that had not yet submitted the RPK.
“But I’m sorry we can’t mention the names of the companies in question,” he concluded.
OJK stated that there will be 11 problem insurance companies in 2023 and will be under special supervision. The company consists of six life insurance, three general insurance, one reinsurance, and one insurance company in liquidation.
