“OJK and SWI Shut Down 155 Illegal Online Lending Platforms and 15 Unpermitted Investment Entities”

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) revealed that until April 30 2023, together with the Investment Alert Task Force (SWI), they had stopped 15 entities offering investments without permits and 155 illegal online lending platforms (pinjol).

This was disclosed by the Chief Executive of the Behavioral Supervisory of Financial Services, Education and Consumer Protection of OJK, Friderica Widyasari Dewi.

“As of April 30, 2023, SWI has stopped 15 entities offering investment without permits and has followed up on the findings of 155 illegal online lending platforms by stopping the activities of each illegal entity,” he said in a virtual press conference, Friday (5/5/2023).

Meanwhile, the woman who is often called Kiki said that from the beginning of January to April 30 2023, OJK had received 94,737 service requests, including 6,371 complaints, 34 complaints indicating violations, and 420 disputes that entered the LAPS of the Financial Services Sector (SJK).

“Of these complaints, 3,344 were IKNB sector complaints, 2,994 were banking sector complaints, and the rest were capital market sector services,” he explained.

He also revealed that the OJK continues to massively accelerate literacy and financial programs in order to support the achievement of national financial inclusion and literacy targets, both through face-to-face (offline) and online (online) activities through the Learning Management System (LMS) and social media.

“As of March 31, 2023, OJK has carried out 332 financial education activities that reached 64,668 participants nationally. In addition, Attitude Uangmu, as a communication media channel in the form of minisites and applications that specifically inform content related to financial education to the public digitally, has published content 135 financial education content, with a total number of visitors of 767,640 viewers as of April 30, 2023,” he explained.
