Ojārs Vācietis and Imants Ziedonis: Minimalist Book Release and Events in Riga and London

Žanete Grende, chairwoman of the board of the “Viegli” Foundation, says: “One of the symbols of the power of our nation’s self-confidence is Ojārs Vācietis. He, like Imants Ziedonis, turns ninety this year. What could you give Imants Ojārs as a gift? Ziedonis would say that we should only give big things. From we see from experience that the small format of the book and the minimalisms (small sentences with a big thought) brought out by the poet’s work strongly appeal to the runners of life.”

The selection of minimalism was made by the Ziedonis Museum and the Ojāras Vācieš Museum. Compiler of the inventory: Jānis Holšteins-Upmanis. The visual design of the book was created by the artist Andris Kalinins. The edition can be purchased in the “Viegli” e-store of the foundation, as well as in the largest bookstores in Latvia.

The opening of the book will take place at the end of November in Riga, as well as in London – on Saturday, November 25 in the hall of the Daugava Vanagu Foundation House at 17:30.
