At the event, you will be able to hear poetry readings by Ojārs Vācieš and young poets – laureates of literary competitions dedicated to Ojāras Vācieš, as well as chamber music by Latvian composers inspired by the poetry of Ojāras Vācieš, performed by Latvian National Opera and Ballet soloist Evija Martinsone and pianist Agnese Egliņa.

Songs from the cycle “Three Poems by Ojārs Vācieš” by Pēter Plakids and the cycle “Mīlestība” by Romuald Kalsons, as well as songs by composer Arturas Maskats with poetry by Ojārs Vācieš will be performed. The event will be hosted by actor Jānis Kronis, composer Arturs Maskats and poet Jānis Rokpelnis will share their memories of the poet.

During the event, the sculpture “Destiny” (1985) created by the sculptor Arta Dumpe will be on display in the choir.

The event is organized by the Latvian National Library in cooperation with the Ojārs Vācieš Museum and the Ojārs Vācieš Society, supported by the State Cultural Capital Fund.
