Vestige of the textile activity of the 18th and 19th centuries, this weaver’s house has been closed for years. It could accommodate a communal gite...

La Maison du Serger is one of the last testimonies of the textile tradition of the north of the Oise.
The 18th century building is listed in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments.
Property of the municipality of Hardivillers, it includes the weaver’s workshop, his house and outbuildings.
Museum for a few years
After having been open to visitors for a while, it has been closed for about ten years, for lack of volunteers.
The site almost left the field of competence of the Community of communes of the Picardy Oise. Finally, the elected officials chose in 2020 to keep the animation of the house in the optional skills.
An idea of Oise tourism
What about two years later? The community of communes took stock at the last community council. “We have not had time to move forward on this issue, which depends primarily on the will of the municipality”.
The CCOP nevertheless remains on the proposal of a technician from Oise Tourisme to transform the premises into a gîte. “This would make it possible to safeguard this heritage while offering the territory a diversity of tourist accommodation”.
The town hall must meet the architect of the Buildings of France
On the side of Hardivillers, we are on the same line: “We first had to know if this lodging project was a good idea”, explains Maëylis Derivery, mayor of the town.
The municipality approached an architect for whom the project seems viable. “We are now going to make an appointment with the architect of the Bâtiments de France to find out what it would be possible to do. It will also be necessary to apply for and obtain subsidies. All this will take time, several years I think”, says Maëylis Derivry
The rehabilitation of the Maison du Serger would be an asset for the Community of Communes of Oise Picardy, which is aiming for the Pays d’art et d’histoire label.
The Minister of Culture awards this label to municipalities or groups of municipalities that engage in a “policy to raise awareness of the quality of heritage, architecture and the living environment”.
