Oilserv wants to restore moribund petroleum products distribution systems

(Ecofin Agency) – In Nigeria, acts of vandalism perpetrated for several decades on pipeline lines have led to the disappearance of a large part of the domestic delivery network of petroleum products.

Nigerian petroleum engineering company Oilserv has announced that it has submitted a bid to repair, rebuild and operate all of the country’s moribund petroleum product distribution systems through pipelines. The information was given by the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), after an interview granted to him by Emeka Okwuosa, CEO of Oilserv, on the sidelines of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) which has just taken place. complete in Houston, USA.

The announcement comes as an international tender was recently launched by the state-owned oil company (NNPC) to restore faulty distribution systems in the country.

“The ineffective systems of distribution of petroleum products, we see them everywhere in Nigeria. They are not functional. We at Oilserv want to buy them back, rebuild them and make the power available, instead of having petrol and diesel transported by road from Port Harcourt to Makurdi, for example”explained the manager.

Traditionally, the bidders for this type of tender are foreign companies, subsidiaries of large multinationals and with high financial capacities. However, Oilserv is a medium-sized engineering company. It should be remembered that in 2018, Oilserv was selected in the group of firms responsible for building the AKK pipeline, supposed to transport gas from the south to the north of the country, over a distance of 614 km.

The Oilserv executive added that the company is also working to build gas pipeline networks to promote better distribution of fuel throughout the federation.
