Oil-producing countries discuss a common strategy

economy

Today, Sunday, the major oil-producing countries are discussing a common strategy on the oil market. As the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) announced on Saturday, the video conference of the so-called OPEC + group, which also includes partner countries such as Russia and Mexico, will start at 12 noon.

Against the background of rising demand for oil and growing inflation concerns, the producing countries negotiated a slight increase in production in early July. The talks remained fruitless, however, and as a result the oil price rose to its highest level in almost seven years.

OPEC includes Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Nigeria, among others. OPEC’s partner countries include Russia, Kazakhstan and Mexico.
