Libreville, November 10, 2023 (AGP) – The Gabonese Minister of Oil, Marcel Abeke, received in audience, last Wednesday at his office, the general director of the oil company Maurel & Prom, Mathieu Thabault, who wishes to acquire the assets of Assala Energy, to strengthen its presence and its oil operations in Gabon.
According to the economy of the meeting with the Gabonese Minister of Oil, Marcel Abeke, the State intends to exercise its right of pre-emption for the acquisition of its assets to strengthen the Société nationale d’hydrocarbures du Gabon or Gobon oil company (GOC) .
Maurel & Prom would have made an attractive offer to acquire the assets of Assala Energy, in order to strengthen its position in the Gabonese sedimentary basin, indicates a source close to the said ministry.
Technical meetings are underway with the General Directorate of Hydrocarbons and the GOC, which would ultimately be the beneficiary of the pre-empted assets.
According to the same source, the conclusions will be transmitted to the Prime Minister, Raymond Ndong Sima, and to the President of the Transition, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
