Oil companies in Gabon: The State demands accountability

Libreville, Tuesday August 12, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The government has just ordered these companies operating in Gabon to provide proof of payments made during the period from 2020 to 2023.

In a note addressed to oil companies operating in Gabon, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Oil summons them to “list the various payments made for the benefit of the Gabonese State” during the period 2020-2023. The companies Perenco, Assala Energy, Maurel & Prom, TotalEnergies and many others have been notified in this regard, according to reliable sources.

According to the same sources, this request from the Gabonese authorities is part of a concern for transparency that the president of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) has undertaken. Nothing to do with a witch hunt, even less any possible settling of scores as some might suggest.
