The Republican Governor of Ohio, Mike Dewine reported this Wednesday that he will raffle 1 million dollars a week for 5 weeks among people who have received at least one vaccine against COVID-19.

The first draw will be held on May 28 and will be held among participants vaccinated against COVID-19. To qualify, individuals must have received at least one vaccine, be an Ohio resident, and be of legal age.
“I know some will say, ‘DeWine, you’re crazy! This million dollar raffle idea of yours is a waste of money.’ But the truth, the real waste at this point in the pandemic – when the vaccine is available for everything the world-, it is a life lost by covid-19, “said the governor.”
The funds to finance the raffle program are part of the 1.9 billion bailout for states and municipalities approved in March by Congress. Ohio has 42.3% of the population vaccinated with one dose, a percentage below the national measure.
This measure to encourage vaccination is one of the most generous of those offered throughout the United States, because a large number of people willing to be vaccinated has dropped considerably and the goal of immunization in the population is still far from being achieved.
