Ohio hospital apologizes after kidney transplant to wrong patient

A person received a kidney he did not need on July 2, following a patient disagreement.

The hospital reassures that the person who received the transplant is recovering well from their operation, and that their body accepts the kidney well.

The original recipient was put back on the transplant waiting list.

Two employees have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation into the causes of this event is ongoing.

The hospital reported the issue to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), the organization that manages transplants in the United States.
