Jakarta, Selular.ID – It is undeniable that the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still engulfing life, has encouraged people to adopt digital methods, including in the health sector, one of which is wearing wearable devices.
To support this health, the two devices are very popular as well as reliable, and have even become a trend for smartwatches and smartbands. These two devices are functionally sufficient to monitor your health through the various features embedded in them, such as a heart rate monitor, SpO2 (oximeter), detecting blood glucose (sugar) levels, to serving various sports modes with detailed monitoring of course.

The trend is certainly not limited, the features that will be updated will later become an important part of the progress of this smart device.
Especially in the 5G era, health tracker devices are likely to be included in a large scheme of health monitoring in the future, which will eventually be connected to health centers.
Meanwhile, in terms of demand for wearables, it grew to 153.5 million in the last quarter of 2020. This figure is up 27.2 percent compared to the same period last year. Growth throughout 2020 was almost the same and shipments reached 444.7 million.
And health tracker tools account for two-thirds of shipments. Smartwatches come in second with 24.1 percent and then there are smartbands at 11.5 percent. What’s interesting from IDC’s records, the pandemic was recorded to have a negative impact on the sales of many products. However, on the contrary, the pandemic has actually increased health-related devices.
Chairman of the Indonesian IoT Association (Asioti) Teguh Prasetya also said that by 2022 the number of IoT devices or sensors used in Indonesia will reach 400 million sensors with a market value of around Rp 350 trillion. And the pace of IoT in the future is considered to be the backbone, in driving digital transformation in a number of sectors during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Seeing its huge potential, it would be interesting to discuss in depth, what are the trends and potential developments of wearable device technology in the country.
