Often there are only rejections

Berlin.Anyone who wants a government loan to refurbish windows or heating in the interests of climate protection is often rejected. A practical test shows that. If you want to replace an old oil heating system with an efficient pellet heating system, you would normally be in good hands with the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). The crux of the matter, however, is that a transit financial institution, i.e. a bank, savings bank or insurance company, is responsible. But it is precisely these who are usually not ready to grant such a promotional loan, according to the magazine “Finanztest” (issue 3/2021).

This is often due to minimum loan amounts. In other words: the expense is often too great for the financial institutions, the commission too small. If you want to reorganize, ask the banks specifically whether and with what minimum sums there is a KfW loan. “Finanztest” offers a list on the Internet.

In some federal states there is also the option of applying for the loan through state development institutions. This applies to people who live in the relevant federal state. According to the “Finanztest”, the following institutes broker the KfW loans: the Bremer Aufbau-Bank, the Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank, the Landeskreditbank Baden-Württemberg, and the investment banks of the federal states of Brandenburg, Berlin and Schleswig-Holstein.

As an alternative to the loan, you can also apply for a grant. This can be done directly via the house bank and should be possible for all restructuring measures directly at the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) from the middle of the year. dpa
