Whooping cough remains a serious problem of infectious pathology today. The disease is recorded both in children and adults. There is an increase in the frequency of whooping cough in many countries. According to WHO data for the European region, the highest rates were seen in Switzerland, Germany and the UK. For example, in the Czech Republic, nearly 29.4 thousand people fell ill with whooping cough over the 8 months of 2024. The disease caused the death of 9 people (7 adults and two children). The incidence rate in 2024 was the highest since 1958.
