Panathinaikos was not affected by the psychological burden due to the tragic loss of George Baldock and won an important victory in Heraklion, defeating OFI 1-0.
The Shamrocks players came out for warm-ups wearing shirts with the number 32 on the back which was Baldock’s number. At the start of the match, a minute’s silence was observed in the packed “Jedi Koule” in memory of the deceased footballer.

Panathinaikos opened the scoring in their first chance of the match. In the 6th minute, Tete found space, took the shot outside the area and sent the ball into the corner of Christogeorgos’ goal (0-1). The All Greens dedicated the goal to Baldock, which eventually gave them the winning points. This is also the first away win for Alonso’s team which reached 12 points.
In the 9th minute, Gonzalez crossed from the right, Dragovski drove in front of Nous, Hadzitheodoridis won the ball in the area and shot wide.
In the 18th minute, the hosts missed another chance. Dragovski tried to dribble, Jung pressured him, won the ball but the Pole fell and blocked.
In the 21st minute, Tete found himself in a position to shoot, but this time he was unable to threaten. In the next phase at 23′, the Brazilian striker with a perfect ball put Bakaseta in a favorable position, but Lambropoulos countered and saved his team from the worst.
The game had a rhythm and in 33′ Foundas shot, but Jedvai intervened and sent the ball for a corner.
In the 35th minute, Bakasetas tried his foot again, but it was off target.
In the 41st minute, the hosts came close to equalizing. Jung took the ball on the left, bent down, took the shot, the ball hitting the crossbar and ending up wide.
In first-half stoppage time, Gonzalez crossed, Sengelia back-heeled, but Dragovski blocked the ball.
In the 55th minute, Sengelia shot, Dragovski saved the ball. In the next minute, Karahalios caught a strong shot, Dragovski made a difficult save and in the next phase, Nuss was unable to send the ball into the net.
In the 61st minute, the greens threatened again. Bakasetas took a corner, Arao took the header, but missed from the height of the small area.
