Offshore wind power is advancing its pawns on the American market. At the end of October, the German Siemens Gamesa announced that it had signed the lease of land with the Port Authority of the State of Virginia. There, he will build the first offshore wind turbine blade plant in the United States. An investment of 200 million dollars which will bring a touch of made in the USA to the mega project of 176 turbines planned for the account of the Dominion electrician.

American waters are still almost untouched by offshore wind turbines: only five turbines have been operating off the island of Block Island (Rhode Island) for five years and two others opposite Virginia since the beginning of the year, for a meager total of 42 megawatts (MW).
