[아시아경제 나한아 기자] Chun, the CEO of TreeJ Company (now Bombom), who was convicted of offshore tax evasion, eventually gave up the appeal.

According to the legal community on the 5th, actor Jang Geun-suk’s mother, Jeon, filed an appeal against the ruling immediately after being sentenced to the first trial on the 19th of last month. However, it is known that the appeal was suddenly dropped on the 26th. As a result, the ruling against Mr. Jeon was confirmed on the 27th.

An official from Mr. Jeon said, “I know that I have given up the appeal because I don’t want to create a situation that will damage my son anymore,” he said. “It is a situation where I can’t hide my feelings of sorry for my son.”

At that time, the first trial court sentenced Mr. Jeon, who was imprisoned for tax evasion under the aggravated punishment law for specific economic crimes, to two years and six months in prison, four years probation, and a fine of 3 billion won.

Previously, Mr. Jeon was charged with tax evasion of a total of 1.8 billion won by omitting a report of billions of won, such as withdrawing or using the income earned from overseas activities in Hong Kong while running the entertainment agency TreeJ Company, which was established for the management of his son Jang Geun-seok Was handed over to trial.

Chun claimed innocence, saying that there was no intention of tax evasion during the trial, but the court did not accept it. However, he was considered innocent for the charges of embezzlement.

Meanwhile, Jang Geun-suk was called out in May of last year after performing alternative service as a social service worker in July 2018, and came out of TreeJ Company after the suspicion of his mother was revealed.
