/ world today news/ Senior officials received 20 salaries per year, Coalition for Bulgaria deputy Petar Mutafchiev warned at a briefing. The situation was most drastic in the ministries of finance, labor and social policy, and economy.
“For three months, they drastically increased their salaries. They did the following – three months – normal remuneration, the next three – increased. And so throughout the year. For example, in the Ministry of Economy in 2011, the members of the political cabinet – 11 people, received a total of BGN 13,000. In March, the money jumped to BGN 55,000,” Mutafchiev gave as an example. In the period 2010 – 2012, they received double wages in three months.
“In the Ministry of Finance, directors of directorates received BGN 5,000 per month. Heads of departments – BGN 3,000. At the beginning of 2010, the money pledged for monthly remuneration of the political cabinet was BGN 280,000. At the end of the same year, the money have jumped to BGN 600,000. In 2012, they became BGN 900,000. The increase is 300%. And this is happening in the ministry of Simeon Dyankov, who was showing pizza to the Bulgarians and saying that it was a period of great stagnation. Apparently, the pizza was different for the minister’s senior officials,” said MP Georgi Svilenski.
However, the ministries refused to provide correct and comprehensive information, even though the cabinet is not now GERB’s. “The ministers are ours. But the chief secretaries and directorates are from the previous cabinet,” explained Mutafchiev. Some of the ministries did not provide any information at all, such as the Ministry of the Interior of Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
“We will request a serious audit of the Audit Chamber. Or, as MPs, we will obtain the data through court proceedings. But I do not want to come to this measure,” Petar Mutafchiev told PIK. The MPs have requested a meeting with Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski.
