The Spanish club Villarreal contracted with Egyptian-born Haitham Hassan to join the reserve team, coming from Châteauroux, active in the French second division.
The official website of Villarreal said on Friday that the 18-year-old will play for the reserve team after he signed a contract with the club for the next 4 seasons.
The financial value of the deal was not disclosed for the player, who was born to an Egyptian father and a Tunisian mother, but he holds French citizenship and represented the under-18 roosters’ team.
Mohamed Barakat, the director of the Egyptian national team, stated earlier that they are following the player in order to identify the possibility of using him in the coming period, without specifying whether there is a tendency to rely on him or not.
Haitham Hassan played 18 matches for the first team for Châteauroux last season, before turning 18, and by moving to Villarreal, who is active in the Spanish third division, he will also be entitled to play with the first team that competes in La Liga.
