Wadi Degla club officially announced the apology of its Cypriot coach, Nicodemus Papavasilio, for not continuing to lead the team, and thanked him in a statement issued today, Thursday.
Papavsilio took over the leadership of the Tigris Valley last year, succeeding the Greek Takis Junias, and led the team to good results during the second half of the 2019/2020 season, but the retreat of the team’s results during the current season prompted him to apologize for continuing in his position.
Wadi Degla ranks sixteenth in the Egyptian Premier League table during the current season, with six points, after winning a single match, compared to three draws and four defeats.
Papavasilio began his coaching career in 2006, and led many European clubs during the past years, most notably Apollon Limassol of Cyprus, Slovakian Slovan Bratislava and Panionios of Greece.
For his part, Hazem Khairat, head of the football apparatus, said in exclusive statements through “Yallakora” that Abdel-Baqi Gamal, the general coach of the team, became the director of the Tigris in the coming period after the departure of the Greek coach.
It is worth noting that Wadi Degla did not achieve only one victory in the league during this season, which was at the expense of the Arab Contractors, as the last result of the game for the Djalawi team was the loss of Al-Masry Al-Borsaidi by three goals to one goal.
