Yesterday, Tuesday, Microsoft announced the end of support for the Windows 8.1 operating system, as confirmed by the company on its blog.

Microsoft has stated that after January 10, system users will not be provided with technical support for any reason, nor will updates for security programs and systems be provided. However, a computer running this operating system will still work, but without updates.

The company has recommended upgrading to an operating system version that is still supported, such as Windows 11.

Also, starting today, it said, users won’t be able to buy and install apps and games from the Microsoft Store on their Windows 8.1 computers.

Interestingly, Microsoft introduced the Windows 8.1 operating system in 2013 and this system is mainly intended for touch-screen computers, however it also supports classic computers.
