DL Egypt officially unveiled three light electric vehicles for the first time in the Egyptian market, in cooperation with the Egyptian digital portal “EG Gate” of the Long Live Egypt Fund, with the aim of presenting a future vision for clean energy vehicles in the Egyptian market.
Today, Wednesday evening, in a New Cairo hotel, a ceremony was held to inaugurate the three vehicles as well as reveal the company’s plans, in the presence of Mohamed Najah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dolibat Egypt, in the name of Hashad, Managing Director, Jamal Askar, the technical advisor to the company, representatives of the Egyptian Digital Gate and a number of officials In the banking and industrial sector.
Mohamed Najah, Chairman of Dolibat Misr, said that the company started its business in the local market since 2017, and actual production began in 2018 after President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to support electric cars.
Najah added that the prototypes produced by the company underwent many technical and road-driving experiences before they were officially unveiled and presented to the consumer in the Egyptian market.
The list of cars that were revealed during the celebration includes a three-wheel passenger vehicle similar to a “tuk-tut”, but equipped with front and rear doors to increase safety, and a second three-wheel vehicle for commercial transportation as a safe alternative to a “tricycle”.
For his part, Gamal Askar said that the company is seeking to replace one million electric tuk-tuks produced by wheels with vehicles currently operating on Egyptian streets, whose number exceeds 6.5 million tuk-tuks.
Askar explained that Dolibat will not stop at the three vehicles that have been revealed, which he emphasized that they are very economical and provide about 75% of the maintenance costs needed by traditional cars, adding that the cost of charging the car is 12.5 to travel a distance of 150 km.
He emphasized that the company’s business is working in the near future to provide about 22 models of microbus, minivan and van, all of which depend on electric power.
The third car offered by the company is a four-wheeled vehicle equipped with a structure similar to American “Jeep” cars. It is intended for internal roads, as it is powered by a 400-watt electric motor and has a maximum speed of 60 km / h and runs up to 150 km per charge.
DL Egypt confirmed that the percentage of the local component with its cars reaches 45% and seeks to reach 60%, through its cooperation with the Egyptian Digital Gate Company, in addition to the Ministry of Military Production represented by the 999 factory to operate production lines.
The list of collaborators with the company includes the Tredco Al-Sayyad factory, the Etc factory for electrical cables, the Trust factory, the Control Engineering factory, the Gresh glass factories, and the Power Code factory, as well as the Chinese companies, Fly Horse and MJ Group.
The company, registered as a member of the Engineering Industries Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, announced its cooperation with the Ministry of Interior represented by the Future Company to facilitate licenses, and a number of banks operating in the Egyptian banking market, including the Commercial International Bank, CIB Bank, Banque Misr, Arab African Bank and National Bank of Egypt. This is to provide licensing facilities and financing for consumers wishing to buy one of the three cars.
The company also concluded a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate, to inaugurate 28 branches to train specialists and those interested in this industry, in addition to establishing 400 express service stations and maintenance of the road network nationwide. It is set to reach 1,000 stations in the coming years.
The company aims to produce about one million light vehicles of the aforementioned models within three years of the official launch, and mass production and sale to the public will start in the second quarter of 2021.
