In the summer of 2024, the world’s biggest music stars will be rubbing shoulders in Munich. Next up: Coldplay. The pop rockers will perform at the Olympic Stadium.

Update from August 15, 8:24 a.m.: In the evening the band Coldplay will play their first of three concerts in Munich’s Olympic Stadium. After a few evenings of thunderstorms in a row, the question is: will the weather hold? There is an official heat warning from the German Weather Service until 7 p.m. A look at the hourly forecast at wetter.com shows that temperatures will reach 29 degrees, but there is no rain in sight. The probability of precipitation is only 25 percent between 2 and 3 p.m. In the evening, the sky will even be cloudless. Perfect concert weather, then – both for the fans in the stadium and for those who want to listen from the Olympiaberg.

First report from 14 August: Munich – Metallica started things off in mid-May. The rockers’ mega show gave a hint of what Munich – and the Olympic Park in particular – will be up to this summer. For the cult band’s concerts, numerous spectators gathered on the Olympic Hill right next to the Olympic Stadium and listened to Metallica riffs for free.

In hindsight, we know that it was something like a warm-up program for Taylor Swift’s concerts, which made headlines around the world thanks to the Olympiaberg. Adele has been in the state capital since August, and Jimmy Fallon, who wanders around Tegernsee, has traveled to her concerts, among others. While a separate arena was built for Adele, the pop-rock superstars Coldplay will be performing in the Olympic Stadium from mid-August. Time for the next party?
Coldplay with first Munich concert: Will there be another mega party?
The band Coldplay, led by lead singer Chris Martin, originally planned two shows in Munich: on August 15 and 17. Due to high demand, however, they quickly announced that there would be a third date, namely on Sunday, August 18. In addition, the pop rockers are known for offering their fans spectacular music shows; as early as July 2023 – when the concerts were announced – organizer Live Nation announced that the shows were completely sold out.
All in all, everything points to the Olympiaberg once again playing an important role for fans who were unable to get tickets or who found them too expensive. Prediction: there will be another fan party.

Four acts, more than 20 songs – that’s what we know about the Coldplay concerts in Munich
The current Coldplay tour is called “Music of the Spheres”. The Brit rockers have divided their shows into four acts: “Planets”, “Moons”, “Stars” and “Home”. Each of these acts contains four to seven songs – most Coldplay concerts on the current tour had just over 20 songs. Things should be no different in Munich. So for fans and Munich residents, from Thursday onwards it will be: “The show must go on!” (fhz)
