Official: The cause of Prince Philip’s death has been revealed

The official cause of death of Prince Philip, stated in his death certificate, is old age, reports “Independent”. Queen Elizabeth II’s husband passed away at the age of 99 on April 9 this year. In the months before he died, Philip’s health gradually deteriorated. In early March, he underwent heart surgery at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, after which he was transferred to King Edward Seventh’s private clinic to treat an infection that was reported to be unrelated to Covid-19.

After a four-week stay in health facilities, during which he was visited only by his son Charles, he was discharged and transported back to his wife at Windsor Castle, where they spent most of the pandemic. It was there that he met his end.

Buckingham Palace then announced the sad news, but the statement never stated the exact cause of death of the Duke of Edinburgh. Now, however, the document, compiled and certified by Sir Hugh Thomas, head of the Royal Medical Center, states that Philip is old. The British media point out that in the country this term is accepted in case the deceased is over 80 years old and has been under medical supervision for a long time, during which his general health has deteriorated.

It is clear from the certificate that he had no other concomitant illness or injury that contributed to his death, including heart disease, for which he had undergone surgery only a few weeks earlier.

The funeral of the aristocrat was on April 17 this year. and took place in a close family circle of exactly 30 people, including his four children – Charles, Anna, Andrew and Edward, along with their partners, his eight grandchildren, including Prince Harry, who arrived alone from the United States a few days ago because his wife’s pregnancy does not allow her to fly long distances.

It was ceremonial, not state. There is a subtle difference between the two – state funerals are usually reserved for monarchs, although in the past Prime Minister Winston Churchill received just that, while those of the Queen Mother in 2002 and Diana in 1997 were ceremonial.
