The Russian representative office of Kia officially announced the launch of Seltos crossovers at the Avtotor Kaliningrad plant. Cars are assembled using SKD technology, that is, from almost ready-made car kits: welding and painting of bodies are not provided, the degree of localization is minimal.
However, this news was more than a month late: the photos of the Seltos on the Avtotor assembly line scattered across the Internet at the beginning of the calendar winter, because the Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) entered into force on December 9. And just the other day, a new portion of shots appeared: crossovers have already been seen in dealerships! This means that the start of sales is just around the corner: Kia has not yet announced the exact date, but dealers promise to start the transfer of cars to customers in early February.
Now the Seltos with a two-liter aspirated (149 hp, 180 Nm) and a variator (front or full drive), as well as crossovers with 1.6 turbo engines (177 hp, 265 Nm), which are equipped with a seven-speed uncontested, are now leaving the Kaliningrad conveyor robot “and all-wheel drive. A little later, the plant will begin production of modifications with a “junior” naturally aspirated engine 1.6 – such machines will be available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and the versions with two drive wheels have a slightly higher return: 123 hp and 151 Nm against 121 hp and 148 Nm for all-wheel drive versions. Such Seltos will be offered with “mechanics” or with a classic six-speed “automatic”.
For now well known only the price of the crossover in the Luxe configuration with a 2.0 MPI engine and a CVT: for it you will have to pay 1 million 350 thousand rubles. According to preliminary information, two-liter versions will be offered in five trim levels (Luxe, Style, Prestige, Premium, Premium +), and turbo-Seltos equipment levels will have three (Prestige, Premium, Premium +).
