Samsung has just lifted the veil on a new generation of touch tablets during its conference Galaxy Unpacked from February 2022. In addition to the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra smartphones, it was indeed the Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra tablets that made the poster for the evening. On the menu, three new purely high-end tablets that will try to challenge the iPad Pro on the professional field.
The largest tablet on the market
One thing immediately jumps out: Samsung’s new tablets are huge. Indeed, the Galaxy Tab S8, the smallest of the three, has a nice diagonal of 11 inches. The Galaxy Tab S8+ is 12.4 inches. This already positions them as real professional tools with a very comfortable surface.
To go even further, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has a diagonal of 14.6 inches, significantly larger than Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8 as well as a good number of laptops. In short, it is simply the largest tablet currently sold on the market.
Samsung has chosen to integrate an AMOLED panel into the Galaxy Tab S8+ and S8 Ultra with respective definitions of 2800 x 1752 pixels and 2960 x 1848 pixels. For its part, the classic Galaxy Tab S8 is content with an IPS TFT screen of 2560 x 1600 pixels. However, each screen has an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz.
A very ambitious technical sheet
Inside, Samsung has chosen to integrate the latest high-end SoC from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The latter is assisted by 8 GB of RAM on the Tab S8 and Tab S8 + as well as 128 or 256 GB of storage. For its part, the Tab S8 Ultra gives the choice between a RAM of 8, 12 or 16 GB as well as a storage of 128, 256 or 512 GB. For each configuration, we also have the choice between a Wi-Fi version. -Fi and a 5G version, except for the least powerful Galaxy Tab Ultra, available only in Wi-Fi version.
For food, the three tablets obviously carry batteries of different capacities. These are 8000, 10090 and 11200 mAh respectively on the Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra. In addition, each device supports fast charging at 45 W.
We discover on the back of each tablet a 13 megapixel photo sensor accompanied by an ultra wide-angle of 6 megapixels. on the front, there’s a single 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens on the Tab S8 and S8+. A second 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor also assists this one on the Tab S8 Ultra.
The new Samsung tablets run natively on Android 12 accompanied by the One UI 4 overlay. There is also an S Pen stylus for each device as well as the possibility of adding a keyboard sold separately.
Price and availability of the Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra
