Official Nubia Z40 Pro, the first Android mobile with magnetic charging

The ZTE Nubia Z40 Pro has also been officially announced, enriching the world of smartphones with two major innovations. One is a camera that uses the Sony IMX787 sensor, which is equivalent to a 35mm lens and has a resolution of 64 megapixels, and the other is the magnetic wireless charging offered by the Gravity variant, which is the first to be available on a phone running the Android operating system.

The screen is 6.67 inches, an AMOLED construction that displays content in Full HD + resolution, and the image refresh rate is 144 Hz. The panel is 100 percent covered by the DCI-P3 scale, and the maximum brightness can reach up to 1000 nits.

The soul of the Z40 Pro is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset that comes with 8, 12 or 16 GB of RAM, depending on the package you choose, and can hold 128, 256 or 512 GB of storage, but there is also a 1 TB edition. Unfortunately, there is no expansion option with a micro SD card.

There are a total of three cameras on the back of the phone, the primary one being the already mentioned 1 / 1.3-inch, 64-megapixel module, which also has an f / 1.6 7P lens and an optical image stabilizer. By default, the sensor captures 16 megapixel photos with 4: 1 pixel merging. The other sensor is a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module, and the third participant is an 8-megapixel telephoto unit capable of 5x optical zoom. The resolution of the front camera is 16 megapixels.

The ZTE Nubia Z40 Pro was advertised with a magnetic wireless charge that wasn’t available on any Android-powered smartphone so far, at least not on ones that could be bought commercially. However, this feature is not necessarily part of the bundle and will only be available in the limited edition Gravity Edition. The device has a slightly smaller battery with a capacity of 4600 mAh and supports cable charging at 66 watts, needless to say, this model costs a little more than the others. Each additional pack will receive a 5000 mAh battery, which will be powered by 80 watt adapters.

What’s more worth mentioning about the device is that it runs an Android 12 operating system, which is complemented by a self-developed user interface called MyOS 12. There’s also a USB-C 3.1 port, an NFC module and a fingerprint reader under the display. We have already written that there is no micro SD slot, but unfortunately the phone did not get any headphone output, let’s say this is not so new nowadays.

The starting price of the Z40 Pro is 3,399 yuan, which would mean approximately 174,000 forints. If the Gravity Edition were sympathetic, either because of the magnetic charge or otherwise, 4,299 yuan would have to be chewed off, which is roughly equivalent to 221,000 forints. The mobile is not yet available in China, it is not yet a global distribution.
