Directorate General of Taxation (DGT) The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) inaugurated the use of the Population Identification Number (NIK) as Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP).
Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo said this policy will provide convenience for the public because they no longer need to register with the Tax Service Office (KPP). Because the integration of NIK into NPWP is already running.
“Taxpayers can now use their NIK to fulfill their tax rights and obligations,” said Suryo in an official statement released Tuesday (19/7).

He said 19 million NIK had been integrated with the NPWP. This means that tens of millions of people can use their NIK to report SPT starting this year.
“We have only been able to match 19 million NIK with the Directorate General of Population Administration and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil),” said Suryo.
Previously, the Director of Extension, Services, and Public Relations of DJP Neilmaldrin Noor, his party collaborated with Disdukcapil to integrate NIK into TIN.
“WP data remains confidential. So it doesn’t mean that with a combination of systems, (parties) here can read, others can read. So there’s no need to worry,” he said.
He guarantees that all taxpayer data is guaranteed by the Law on General Provisions and Tax Procedures (UU KUP).
“Because we are bound by the law, we cannot reveal the taxpayer’s data carelessly,” concluded Neilmaldrin.
