Official: Gyökeres stays in the Championship

In January, it was clear that Viktor Gyökeres would go on loan from Brighton to Coventry City in The Championship. In total, there were three goals in 19 games for the West Midlands club – and now it is clear that Coventry will buy Gyökeres.

Coventry announces on its website that Gyökeres has signed a three-year contract with the club.

– We are very happy to have recruited Viktor and welcome him to the club permanently, says Coventry’s manager Mark Robins in a comment on the club’s website.

He continues:

– Viktor is a talented striker with good strength, speed and mobility and he has great potential. He showed a fantastic attitude when he was on loan with us last season and made a really good impression.

Gyökeres has belonged to Brighton since his transfer from Brommapojkarna in the beginning of 2018, but he has meanwhile been on loan to Swansea City and German St Pauli in addition to Coventry.

Coventry finished 16th out of 24 in The Championship last season.
