OFFICIAL: Former Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo gets a new club

Andrea Pirlo finally continued his managerial career in Turkey.

Italian legend and former Juventus manager, Andrea Pirlo, has been confirmed as the new manager of Fatih Karagumruk – a Turkish club that plays in the top flight of the competition.

By joining the Turkish club, the 43-year-old coach is taking the next step in his coaching career, having been released by Juventus in 2021.

He has been out of work since last year, but is poised to return to the touchline and will look to improve on a shock eighth-place finish for Karagumruk in the 2021/22 Super Lig season.

The club announced the deal on Sunday (12/6), Karagumruk said Pirlo had signed a one-year contract and would be presented on Tuesday (14/6) local time.

The statement read: “World-renowned footballer who recently coached Juventus, one of the most important clubs in Europe.

“He also has Champions League experience with Juventus, Pirlo signed a contract which makes him a member of Karagumruk for one year, starting July 1.”

“Pirlo’s press conference will be held on Tuesday, June 14, and the venue and time will be announced at a later date by our club. We welcome our coach and wish him success.”

How is Andrea Pirlo’s progress as Juventus manager?

Pirlo was thrown from Juventus for not being able to make the club be at their highest level. However, the Italian has a decent win rate of 65% during his time at Allianz Stadium, recording 34 wins, 10 draws and eight defeats.

However, back-to-back Scudetto run from the Old Lady came to a halt at nine under Pirlo’s tutelage, with Inter Milan successfully sealing their first title in ten years.

After only securing a top-four finish and a Champions League exit to FC Porto, Pirlo was replaced by Massimiliano Allegri ahead of the 2021/22 season.
