OFFICIAL: Flamengo announces Renato Gaúcho as new coach

Flamengo announced this Saturday the Brazilian Renato Gaúcho as the club’s new coach, replacing Rogério Ceni, who left the Rio de Janeiro club eight months after being hired.

This is a debut for the 58-year-old coach, who has coached rivals Vasco da Gama (four seasons) and Fluminense (seven seasons) on several occasions, but has never been at Flamengo.

Most of his career, moreover, was spent at Grémio (nine years), the club where he started playing and where he spent most of his career. Moreover, and speaking of playing career, it is interesting to say that while playing Renato Gaúcho he spent four times with Flamengo, adding a total of six seasons, making 166 games and scoring 62 goals.

He is the third coach in the space of a year, since Jorge Jesus left Flamengo, he who curiously had great fights (and many controversies) with the Portuguese coach).
