Jakarta –
The new season hasn’t started yet, Fiorentina and Gennaro Gattuso already separated. Fiorentina have officially announced that Gattuso will no longer be their coach.
Gattuso was appointed as Fiorentina coach on May 25 after being dismissed by Napoli. The former AC Milan midfielder replaced Giuseppe Iachini who failed to boost The Viola.
However, less than a month after being announced as coach, Gattuso and Fiorentina decided to end their partnership.
“ACF Fiorentina and coach Rino Gattuso have, by mutual agreement, decided not to proceed with the agreement and therefore will not start next season together,” Fiorentina wrote in a statement on their official website as reported by the statement. Football Italia.
“Now the club is working to determine the technical options that will guide the Viola to the results Fiorentina and the city of Florence deserve.”
Reports circulating in Italy say there are tensions between Fiorentina president Rocco Comisso, club manager Giancarlo Antognoni and Gennaro Gattuso about plans in the transfer market. There is a difference of opinion between Gattuso and the club regarding player spending.
The player’s agent Jorge Mendes, who is also Gattuso’s agent, has proposed a number of names that will be targeted in the summer transfer market. However, the club wants players with cheaper prices. Gattuso and Fiorentina in the end did not reach common ground and decided to part ways.
Gattuso left Napoli at the end of 2020/2021 after leading them to finish in fifth place in the Italian League standings. Gattuso also briefly led Napoli to win the 2019/2020 Coppa Italia.
Several names of coaches have reportedly entered Fiorentina’s radar to replace Gennaro Gattuso. They are Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Ranieri and Rudi Garcia.
