OFFICIAL: De Ligt and Mazraoui join Man United from Bayern Munich

Manchester United have completed the signings of defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

United announced that both had signed a statement under their X nickname.

De Ligt’s transfer is reported to be worth £42.7million, with an initial fee of £38.4million plus £4.3million in add-ons, with the player available for United’s Premier League opener against Fulham on Friday.

The 24-year-old Dutch international centre-back has spent two seasons at Bayern since signing from Juventus, playing 73 times and scoring five goals.

De Ligt also played under United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, where they won the Eredivisie in 2019.

The defender, who also won league titles with Juventus and Bayern, said: “As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt excited about taking on a new challenge at such a historic club.

De Ligt also played under Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax, where they won the Eredivisie in 2019.

Full-back Mazraoui joins for £12.8m with a possible £4.2m in add-ons.

The 26-year-old also played under Ten Hag at Ajax and won three league titles with the Dutch club and another with Bayern.

He made 28 appearances for Morocco and reached the semi-final of the 2022 World Cup with them.

He has signed a four-year contract with the option of a further year and arrives on the day full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s departure to West Ham was confirmed.
