Jakarta –
Darwin Nunez is now legal to be a player Liverpool. Liverpool have completed their transfer from Benfica while tying him to a six-year contract.
Darwin Nunez’s transfer to Liverpool had previously been ‘leaked’ by Benfica. The Portuguese club revealed that they had entered into an agreement with Liverpool, with the completion of the transaction just waiting for the player’s personal administration.
Now Liverpool have announced that they have acquired the Uruguay striker’s ownership rights completely. Although they still have to wait for work permits and international permits, these two things are expected to be completed without problems.
“Liverpool FC have completed the recruitment of Darwin Nunez from Benfica, pending the successful application of a work permit and international permit,” Liverpool said in a statement.
Liverpool did not officially list the value of this transaction, but British media detailed that the upfront cost was up to £64 million. That value will increase to 85 million pounds after a number of clauses are fulfilled by the 22-year-old player.
“I am very happy and happy to be here at Liverpool. This is a massive club. I want to thank my partner, parents and son, who are a real source of pride for me,” said Darwin Nunez.
“They have been very important to me at this stage of my career. I am very proud of them, for the things that we, my partner and I, do as a team. I am grateful for him to be here.”
“It is an honor to be at Liverpool and I am very happy to be a part of this great club.”
Darwin Nunez will wear the jersey number 27 left by Divock Origi.
