JAKARTA – Bank Indonesia (WITH A) revoke and withdraw 20 types of Special Rupiah Denominations (URK) for the 1970 to 1990 issuance years from circulation through Bank Indonesia Regulation (PBI) No. 23/12/PBI/2021, effective August 30, 2021.
“Thus, as of the date referred to, the URK is no longer valid as a legal tender in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Executive Director of the Head of the BI Communications Department Erwin Haryono in an official statement in Jakarta, Monday (30/8/2021).
He mentioned that the URKs that were revoked and withdrawn from circulation were the URK Series 25 for the Year of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in the Year of Emission in 1970 in as many as 10 fractions, the URK for the Nature Reserve Series for the 1974 Emission Year in three fractions, and the URK for the Series for the Nature Reserve for the Year of Emission in 1987 in two fractions.

Then, the URK for the Struggle Series for the ’45 Emissions Year 1990 was in three fractions and the URK for the Save The Children Series for the 1990 Emission was in two fractions.
Erwin said that for people who have the URK and want to exchange it, they can exchange it at Commercial Banks starting from August 30, 2021 until August 29, 2031, or 10 years from the date of revocation.

“Replacement for URK emission years 1970 to 1990 emission year which is revoked and withdrawn from circulation is the same nominal value as stated in the said URK,” he said.
