Atletico Madrid officially announced the transfer agreement Luis Suarez from Barcelona. Now it is just Atletico who needs to complete the details of the move.
Suarez is only one step away from being officially owned Atletico Madrid. After going through a number of thorny situations, including failure to move to Juventus which helped get him caught in the passport test case, Suarez found clarity on his future.
Atletico announced that they had agreed a transfer with Barcelona, as previously thought. The Colchoneros already gave a strong signal by releasing Alvaro Morata to Juventus, in order to provide a place for Suarez.
“Atletico de Madrid and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer Luis Suarez, “said Atletico’s official statement.
Then Suarez only needs to complete a medical test, while the club clears up the contract. The 33-year-old striker will officially belong to Atletico after signing his contract.
Barcelona announced that Suarez’s transfer was worth 6 million euros. Blaugrana has said goodbye and prepared a release event for the player on this Thursday (9/24/2020).
This also means that Suarez’s time with Barcelona will end after six seasons. The Uruguayan has fallen victim to a new Barcelona project led by Ronald Koeman, who only arrived this summer.
His move to Atletico was reportedly opposed by Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu. But Bartomeu in the process relented and let Suarez go.
