Ben White has for large parts of the summer been linked with a move to Arsenal. Now the London club announces that the deal is completely finished, and that the midfielder is recruited from Brighton.
The transfer fee is said to land at 50 million pounds (almost 600 million kronor) for the English European Championship player. The contract extends until the summer of 2026. White will receive jersey number 4 in Arsenal.
– Ben is an intelligent defender who is very confident with the ball at his feet and has a style that fits very well with us. He’s still young, so his age and profile fit what we’re building here. We all look forward to Ben being a central part of our long-term plans, says coach Mikel Arteta in a comment on Arsenal’s website.
White has belonged to Brighton since 2014, but has been loaned out in several rounds. Last season, White made 39 appearances for Brighton in all competitions, and was also part of the English squad that recently reached the final of the European Championships. In total, he has played two A-national matches for “Three Lions”.
