Official: Allegri returns to Juventus

Juventus mixed and gave last season. The Turin team won the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup, but at the same time reached the round of 16 in the Champions League and finished in fourth place in Serie A.

Thus, it has recently been speculated that head coach Andrea Pirlo may be fired – and now it is official. Pirlo is forced to leave the club after only one season.

“Thank you, Andrea. These are the first words that everyone needs to say at the end of this special experience together,” Juventus wrote in an official statement.

The national team Swede Dejan Kulusevski spoke as recently as Wednesday about Pirlo’s future in the club at the national team gathering in Båstad.

– I think he will stay, Kulusevski said then.

Massimiliano Allegri will replace Pirlo on the coaching staff. This is confirmed by Juventus on Friday afternoon.

“Welcome home, Max!”, The club writes on its official website.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Allegri will earn nine million euros, just over 90 million kronor, per season.

Allegri has been without a contract since leaving Juventus in 2019. The 53-year-old was in charge of the team between 2014 and 2019 and then led the club to five league titles, four Italian cup titles, two Italian super cup titles and two second places in the Champions League. Previously, Allegri has coached Milan and Sassuolo, among others.
