Officer who used a dog in The Hague’s corona demonstration not prosecuted Inland

Two other officers are being prosecuted for their role during the demonstration against the corona measures on March 14 last year, it was already announced at the end of last year. It is not yet clear when the officers will appear in court.

The Security, Integrity and Complaints Department (VIK) of the police has investigated under the authority of a public prosecutor and has come to the conclusion that the man himself is also to blame for his injury. “He has ignored the police’s claims, pelted the police and evaded his arrest despite repeated warnings. Therefore, the dog handler involved will not be prosecuted,” the statement said.

At the time, UN rapporteur Nils Melzer was very critical of the actions of the Dutch police during corona protests. He called the footage “one of the most disgusting examples of police brutality since George Floyd.”
