The Egyptian military spokesman announced, on Tuesday, the referral of an officer to the military court on charges of premeditated murder and attempted murder, in connection with the incident of running over a pharmacist in Madinaty, east of Cairo.
The military spokesman announced that, within the framework of the armed forces’ keenness to clarify the facts to the public opinion regarding the incident in one of the residential communities in New Cairo, without prejudice to the progress of the ongoing investigations, Report No. (22/23) was issued on 7/1/2023, military misdemeanors, First Settlement Police Department, regarding the incident. .
He said that the Military Prosecution is conducting investigations, and it has been registered in Case No. (170/2023) “military felonies” east of Cairo, adding that he was charged with the crimes of “intentional and attempted murder”, and it was decided that he be remanded in custody pending the case and he is being referred to the Military Criminal Court.
The military spokesman fully affirmed the armed forces’ respect for the principle of the rule of law, and announced the armed forces’ sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
And the New Cairo area had witnessed a run-over incident involving a pharmacist, her doctor’s husband, and their three children, in addition to another who was accompanying them on a street in the First Settlement Police Department.
Surveillance cameras revealed the details of the accident, as the driver of the car causing the accident, an officer, intentionally ran over the pharmacist because of what was reported that one of her sons had scratched his car.
The accident resulted in the death of the pharmacist from a cerebral hemorrhage. The father, a veterinarian, was also injured. Their three children were wounded, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to eyewitness accounts, the victim’s wife is called “Basma”, and she is the wife of a doctor named “Hamdan Zaki” who works for a pharmaceutical company in an Arab country, and she was on leave to visit her family in Egypt during the Eid al-Adha period.
They revealed that the cause of the accident was due to the fact that her child was playing with a “scooter” in front of the house, and he collided with the accused’s car.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the owner of the car got into his car and followed the father and his family and deliberately ran over them all, resulting in the death of the mother and the injury of the rest of the family.
