The Offenbach weekly market is a true institution in Offenbach and is known and loved beyond the city limits. Whether fresh and regional fruit and vegetables, delicious cakes and baked goods, antipasti, homemade pasta or the most colorful flowers: On Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. everyone who wants to shop and is looking for something special will find what they are looking for.
“A visit to the market can also be worthwhile for Christmas presents. In addition to fresh food, oils, spices, tea and unpackaged shampoo are also sold. There are no supply chain problems here, but quality from the region, ”said Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke.
If you’re looking for something special, you’ve come to the right place
Anyone who lives in Offenbach knows of course the special atmosphere on market days on Wilhelmsplatz. But people also come from the district and the surrounding area on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays to shop, to eat something or to take a leisurely look at the various market stalls and offers. “We simply have the most beautiful weekly market in the region,” says Mayor Schwenke.
“The weekly market is the big heart of the city in the midst of the beautiful backdrop of Wilhelmsplatz. Many marketers have been represented on Wilhelmsplatz for years, know their regular customers and not only sell, they also always have good tips on how the food on offer can best be used and prepared, ”says Schwenke.
The weekly market is rounded off by the adjacent cafés and restaurants on Wilhelmsplatz, where weekly market customers can stop before or after shopping, depending on the location of the corona.
Availability remains
“Another important signal for us is that despite the ongoing redesign of the market square, Wilhelmsplatz and the weekly market can still be reached by public transport, by bike and by car,” says Schwenke. The buses stop at the market square, from which it is only a few minutes’ walk to Wilhelmsplatz. The closest parking garages are also still open. “Drivers are guided to Wilhelmsplatz and the parking facilities via the yellow diversion signs. And we have added the signage again. Signs now explicitly indicate that Wilhelmsplatz and the weekly market can be reached via the diversion, ”said City Councilor Paul-Gerhard Weiß, who is also responsible for the road traffic authority.
Mayor Schwenke also informs: “During the Christmas week, the market day on Saturday will be brought forward to Thursday, December 23rd due to the Christmas holiday. The market is therefore open on Tuesday (December 21), Thursday (December 23), and Friday (December 24) this week. The days were set in consultation with the deliverers. In this way, we want to make Christmas shopping at the weekly market easier and at the same time prevent too many crowds on fewer days. “
