In Offenbach, playgrounds and football fields are to be varied and modern. Systems are to be added, especially in new development areas.
As of the end of 2020, Offenbach has a total of 65 playgrounds plus a new multifunctional area. 14 of them have been fully renovated and six partially renovated and modernized since 2010. According to a press release from the city, further systems will be added in the next few years, especially in the new development areas. Then there will be 71 playgrounds and 24 football fields in the Offenbach urban area. “In the future, we will not only have more playgrounds in Offenbach, but also more modern, more diverse playgrounds,” said Building Department Head Paul-Gerhard Weiß (FDP) as quoted in the press release. “And with the conversion of the classic football fields into multifunctional areas, we are offering different age groups and genders a flexible play and sports space.” In addition, the modern playgrounds are now increasingly used as local meeting points. “The city is responding to this development with different elements.” Attention is paid to barrier-free access, modern equipment and a child-friendly terrain design.
