In addition to the seven electrically powered buses that have been in use in Offenbach since the end of 2020, there are now 17 more – the city has announced.
The buses will gradually be approved from Monday, May 3rd and will run on lines 104, 105, 106, 107 and 108 over the next few weeks. By the end of the year there should be 36 buses – that would be more than 40 percent of the 87 city buses. At the same time as the commissioning, Offenbacher Verkehrsbetriebe (OVB) is launching an image campaign; Among other things, messages such as “Breathe!” and “Better air” can be read on the buses.
“We are showing that the e-buses are running for the protection of the climate, for the traffic turnaround and directly noticeable for a better quality of life for the people in our growing city”, says Mobility Deputy Sabine Groß (Greens). In addition, there are hands-on activities such as a digital Easter egg search in a virtual e-bus. The purchase of the buses is funded by the state of Hesse and the federal government. jon
